Vision Board Ideas to Inspire your Dream Life in 2025
A vision board (or dream board) is a collection of pictures, images and/or text, that visually represent the life, situation, desire or goal you wish to achieve. The presence of this imagery is meant to be seen and, in your awareness, daily and regularly to help shift your vibration and state to the person who has what you have placed on your board.
While Rhonda Byrne's book The Secret (2006) popularised vision boards, they also sprung to life in the 1960s. However, it is also thought vision boards have been around much longer, possibly originating from the ancient Egyptians and their practice of inscribing hieroglyphics onto papyrus scrolls. In any event, a vision board is not new and is a practice enjoyed by many.

Do vision boards work?
I have used vision boards several times. I spent many hours finding all the pictures and headlines I wanted to represent the life I was manifesting… printing out images from the internet, cutting out pictures and headlines from newspapers and magazines and writing meaningful words on the paper or board I was using with felt tip pens.
My personal experience is I tend to spend more time ‘creating’ this wonderful collage than I do tuning in to it daily and feeling the presence of the imagery. After a while I stop noticing the large poster on the bathroom wall or wherever I have stuck it. This defeats the purpose of a vision board, which is I repeat, to help shift your vibration and state to the person who has what you have placed on your board.
The vision board helps your manifesting by:
- · Helping you focus your imagination on your outcome
- · Making you feel happy
- · Assisting you with the assumption it is yours already
- · Inspiring you
- · Increasing your productivity
- · Reminding you of your goal
If your vision board makes you feel annoyed, frustrated or sad you don’t yet have what is on it. Take it down, it is defeating the object and at worst delaying your manifesting. Choose a different method!
For me, I have found other ways to assist my manifesting work better, yet I also know others who swear by vision boards, and they work incredibly well for them. The only way to know if they ‘work’ is to try them for a decent period. Give it more than just an overnight chance!
Here’s the thing with vision boards or any manifesting technique including affirmations, moon water, visualising, scripting, rampaging, and processes like the 369 method or the latest TikTok trend. It isn’t the method or technique which manifests— it’s you. They are tools to assist you in getting into the right state or vibration. That’s it
How to create a vision board
Other than you need to know what you want and set clear goals there are no rules! You do not need to buy a course, lessons or training please don’t buy or fall for any of that.
It is a simple enjoyable activity of curating a collection of pictures, images, text (written or cut-out headlines), drawings and anything else which visually represents and makes you feel connected to your desired outcome. Place it where you can see it easily and often. If you want to keep it private away from roommates, parents, friends or doubtful negative people, think carefully of a place you use frequently but only you have access to.
Vision board formats
Here are a few ideas but it is not an exhaustive list and I’m sure you can find other ways to.
1. Place your imagery on a sheet of paper, card or canvas and attach it to a wall, desk, door or similar
2. Make a digital one— on Canva for example. Pinterest is also excellent for this, and you can keep the board private on Pinterest so only you can see it
3. Use a washing line technique like a traditional dark room and peg/clip the images on a hung piece of string
4. Vision journal— place all your pictures in a diary or bullet journal
5. Vision box— place your cut outs in a special box or tin (that you love also)
6. Cork board or magnetic board— this gives you the ability to change and move your images too.
Ideas on what to put on your vision board
Curate these to your circumstances, find imagery and text you love and begin creating your vision board on your chosen format.
